Aeronamic and Fraunhofer Project Center investigate pilot production of 3D metal printed parts for the Aerospace industry

Almelo, September 7th, 2017 – During the visit of Mr Eddy van Hijum – member of the Executive Council of the Province of Overijssel and of the Twente Board -to Aeronamic B.V., it has been announced that the Province of Overijssel will financially support a pilot project which investigates the series production of 3D metal printed aerospace parts.

Aeronamic will carry out this investigation in close cooperation with the Fraunhofer Project Center which is an association between Fraunhofer IPT Germany, the University of Twente and Saxion University of Applied Sciences. The cooperation between Aeronamic and the Fraunhofer Project Center is an important step in Twente’s further development as a technological top region.

The granted financial support fits and contributes to Technology Base Twente, which focusses on strengthening the international competitiveness of the high-tech industry and knowledge centers in Twente.

Aeronamic is continuously investigating new production technologies for the manufacturing of complex aerospace parts. We heavily invest in innovative new techniques, challenged by our customers like Honeywell and United Technologies. The investigation of producing 3D metal printed parts offers new opportunities in reshoring by industrial innovation.
